and being lvl 24 or so now would you recommend to start PVP now i could care less about any gear before 50

yep, pvping will get you the commendations needed to buy pvp gear @50

pve gear is through HM flashpoints and operations.

I would definitely jump into pvp and start getting the hang of it, the 1-49 bracket is going to be a lot less harsh for getting commendations than if you went into the 50's bracket with no gear.

As you earn warzone commendations I would transfer them into mercenary commendations(30wz comms=10 merc comms) at the pvp vendor because warzone commendations cap at 1,000. So a level 49 can have a maximum of 1,000 warzone and 1,000 mercenary commendations saved up + an unopened champions bag ready for when you hit level 50.
